After 2 years…

It was around this time two years ago, when I got to watch The Lake House, a love story starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. For those who haven’t seen it, the movie revolves around two lovers, who fall in love with each other after writing letters to each other through one and the same mailbox. The strange twist is, while the two characters simultaneously live in the same city, they exist and write exactly two years apart from each other. So the challenge for the protagonists is actually being able to meet each other face to face, transcending the boundaries of time and space.

Despite its loopholes, the film has grown to be one of my all-time favorites. I have the DVD and the soundtrack. And of course, I visited the website. The website allowed people to send e-mails to anyone, but with the same catch as the movie — the recipient gets it two years later.

This was July 2006, and I sent an e-mail to myself. I’ve forgotten what I had written, until I saw it accidentally sent to my spam folder:

Hope you’re doing fine and much better. Despite the problems and imperfections… life is worth fighting for. Pax in Bello (peace through war/struggle).

With God there is always hope, for His plans are always greater than our plans and much more, our disappointments.

Now, this is a real blast from the past!

With gratitude I dare say, yes! I am doing great and much better than two years ago. Perhaps, I was even a different person back then. The problems and imperfections will always be there. But life IS worth fighting and struggling for. So much has changed. And I speaking from experience, yes, God’s “worst” plans are better than our plans.
