Our Lady in the City

When I was a reporter and the office was still in Quezon City, my Assistant Cameraman would always take Scout Fernandez Street from the station to get to Malacañang.  This would save time compared to passing through Timog Avenue and Tomas Morato.

There, I had always been curious about a prayer shrine, which is home to a bronze-colored, giant statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  We had always passed Scout Fernandez, but I never had the chance to enter the place myself and see the uniquie image of Our Lady.

So after two years of hectic schedules and just passing by the street, a friend and I had finally managed to visit the place.  The place is the Regina Rosarii Center of Contemplative Prayer, also known as Our Lady in the City.  The image of Our Lady of the City is about 20 feet in height, and is said to be as tall as the Our Lady of EDSA.  What makes it unique is that the image rotates at 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily.

It has drawn pilgrims and devotees from different parts of the city as well as different provinces who wish to pay homage to Our Lady.

It is open to the public everyday except Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m.
